How to Have More Time in Your Day
If you are anything like me then you are probably always looking for ways to stretch your 24 hours. Our days are filled with a million and one different things we need to do and places to go. Often times, we find ourselves rushing from one thing to the next completely disheveled and out of breath. Below are some tried and true ways to manage your time better and help you get more out of your day.
1. Plan Your Outfits
This is an excellent morning stress reliever! I can’t tell you how much time I’ve wasted in the morning standing in front if my closet thinking about what I want to wear and where to find it. I’ve also had mornings where I would put on an outfit and immediately start looking for something else to wear. Talk about being indecisive. Having your outfits planned allows you to simplify your mornings and enables you to have more time to eat breakfast or commute into work. You can either plan your outfits the night before or better yet, plan a weeks worth of outfits every Sunday.
2. Plan Your Meals
Similarly, planning your meals is a great way to not only save time and money but also to eat healthier. It is a common practice for many fitness trainers because eating on a schedule is very important for maintaining an active metabolism. I highly recommend taking time over the weekend going grocery shopping and planning your meals for the week.
3. Wake Up Earlier
I know this is really hard for the not-so morning people but it is one of the best ways to stretch your 24 hours. An extra hour in the morning can be dedicated to doing something that is really meaningful to you. Additionally, it allows you to get some of your major daily goals accomplished. Think of this as your designated me-time where you are in control. I usually like to wake up early to work out. It increases my energy, focus, and releases endorphins so I can have a better mental state throughout the day.
4. Don’t Snooze Your Alarm
Snoozing your alarm is a really bad habit that many of us are guilty of. However, if you think you are getting more rest in the next 15 minutes then think again. Snoozing your alarm doesn’t give you extra sleep and it just makes you more tired and groggy in the morning. It also puts you at risk for falling asleep and not hearing your alarm thereby making you extra late. Better to set the alarm for when you actually will get up and out of bed.
5. Plan Your Daily Goals
Noticing a theme here? Planning your daily goals is a helpful exercise that helps to create an achievement mindset. Over time it will become habitual and you will see that the things you set out to do are actually being accomplished. You can start by writing your goals in a daily journal or setting reminders in you phone. I always feel so happy when I check the boxes on my to-do list. There's no better feeling than being a goal crusher.
