Karma Series: The Law of Focus

Karma Series: The Law of Focus - ILYNSI Yoga - FOCUS

The Law of Focus states that we cannot think of two different things at the same time and that on which we focus is what grows. This is a very powerful law that must not be taken lightly. It is arguably the fundamental law for how we will experience life and a powerful tool for how we can change our lives from negative to positive.

Where attention goes, energy flows, and results show - Anthony Robbins

In the world of metaphysics, we are surrounded by invisible energy waves called electromagnetic waves. Our bodies are made up of cells that consist of atoms which are the basic units of matter and defining structure of elements. We manifest our realities on a subatomic level through the thoughts in our minds. These thoughts directly impact our actions on both a micro and macro level through our body language, facial expressions, and statements we make throughout the day. Consequently, it impacts the way the world views and responds to us.

“Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.” - Anthony Robbins

How does this work?

The brain functions nonstop producing 25 watts of power per day. It consists of a subconscious and conscious mind. The subconscious mind is the deeper part of the brain that absorbs and stores all that happens around us and guides our decision making process in the conscious mind. The illustration below depicts the vastness of the subconscious mind in comparison to the conscious mind and how it serves as an anchor for our current ways. That means, everything we feed our minds gets stored into the subconscious and shapes our reality. That also means that we have the power to manifest our realities at the subatomic level.

The Power of Subconscious Mind - Karma Series: The Law of Focus - ILYNSI Yoga

Quantum physics indicates that we can create our lives based on what we choose to focus on. Everything in our world is fundamentally composed of invisible waves of energy that may or may not matter to us depending on how much focus we attribute to it. Once we begin to focus on something, it becomes real and grows larger the more attention we give it.

“Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.” - Paulo Coelho

How is the Law of Focus Applied?

The subconscious mind is beyond our normal awareness and always wins. The law of focus teaches us that we have the power to either give attention to what is wanted or what is unwanted equally by using our thoughts. Below are examples of how to apply this powerful law in a meaningful way to achieve our goals:

Visualization: Using various visualization techniques uses the conscious mind to train the subconscious mind to see and believe in anything before it occurs. You can use meditation, creating a vision board, journaling, or daily affirmations to put yourself in a frame of mind that is in alignment with what you want to manifest into your reality. This will also help you map out exactly how you want your life events to transpire by defining your needs and designing a path for how they will be met.

Controlling Our Attention and Focus: Re-evaluate what seems negative to you. Take out a sheet of paper and break it into three columns. In the first column, list all the things in your life that are a source of pain or negativity, in the second column describe how these things are actually positive, and in the third column list the action needed to make the situation even better. This will train the mind to see only the positive in a situation as well as focus on the solution instead of the problem. Let’s use the example of being at a job you do not like:

My job makes me unhappy.

I have an opportunity that provides me with an income, benefits, and learning experiences to enhance my quality of life.

I will look for new opportunities that are aligned with my growth potential

“We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.”- Albert Einstein

Gratitude: Appreciate all of the goodness that you see. This is one of the key secrets to happiness. The world is an abundant and beautiful place with majestic landscapes, serene waters, and diverse populations all working in perfect harmony. Offer gratitude and appreciation for all of the lovely things already present. This will teach the mind to remain positive and optimistic in challenging situations. You should also fill your time with positive experiences so that you have more to be grateful for.
